[Random Births, Death, and Marriage in the Town of Hunter, Greene County, New York. Compiled by Joan Rogan Brower, 1996.]
Per Margaret Shevlin Adams, he was a brother of Charles Shevlin [1806].
Census records indicate that he was the father of Patrick Shevlin [1828] and Ann Shevlin [1842], wife of Thomas Convery. He appears to have lived with Patrick until the son moved away, after which he lived with his daughter. He was definitely living with Patrick by 1860 but may also be in the 1850 census with Patrick. The name on the 1850 census record looks like David but may in fact be Daniel.
Daniel Shevlin of Shandaken, Ulster Country, bought land in Hunter on May 20, 1856. [Greene County Deeds, book 33 page 49]. This could be Daniel [1798] or it could be the "Dennis Shevalin" listed in the 1850 census for Shandaken at age 17.
Daniel declared himself an alien with allegiance to the Queen of Great Britain, August 21, 1856. His residence at the time was listed as Hunter, New York.
